" Wise virgin, foolish virgin " is a diptych created specialy for the exhibition « La Seynie today », organized by the city of Saint Yrieix la Perche at the Heritage House museum. These two porcelain virgins are made with the last mold representing a virgin of the molds collection of la Manufacture La Seynie, and echoing the magnificent virgin with a snake from the Paul Marquet collection which was made in La Seynie during the XIX century

A first virgin, pure, seems to give birth to a harmonious and benevolent nature. This first virgin, all white, contrasts with the second one entirely black. A knot of intertwined snakes covers the globe on which this second virgin is.

If in religious iconography, the virgin crushing the snake symbolizes the triumph against evil; my black version of the virgin surrounded and invaded by many snakes is very different ... These 2 virgins form a diptych opposing good and evil, life and death, the wise virgin and the foolish virgin.
